Aug 22 - NEW BEGINNINGS - A Day Away

Date: Sunday, August 22, 2010
Time: 09:00 AM - 04:00 PM
Location: Harrison Lake State Park

Celebrating new beginnings is the theme of this year’s A Day Away on Sunday, August 22. All events will take place at Harrison Lake State Park (no services at the church facility).

The day begins at 9 a.m. with hot beverages and breakfast cake. The worship service starts at 10 a.m. and includes music, children’s lesson, and meditation, followed by baptisms in the lake. Around noon, lunch will be served with sliced ham and turkey, cheese, buns and condiments provided as well as forks, spoons, plates and napkins. Each family please bring at least two picnic dishes (chips, veggies, fruit, dessert) as well as your own beverages for the day. Refrigeration is not available, so bring your chilled dishes and beverages in your own ice chest.

Activities for the afternoon (1-4 p.m.) include an inter-generational scavenger hunt, waterfront activities, fishing (license required over 16), hiking, biking (rent for $6/hr), boating (canoes, kayaks, paddleboats-$6/hr; rowboat $25/day), basketball, volleyball, soccer, lawn games (corn hole, ladder ball and croquet) and table games (bring your favorites). To round out the day, ice cream will be served about 3 p.m.

Those who like to camp (tent, trailer or RV) are invited to join other North Clinton campers for the weekend at Harrison Lake in the south campground. Contact Jim Short (419-335-6802; jim-n-manda@fulton-net.com) to reserve a site.

Directions from Wauseon—West on 20A to Route 66. Turn right onto 66 to County Road M. Turn left onto County Road M to South entrance of the park. Turn right onto County Road 26, then turn left into the Beach Parking Lot. Go to the far end of the lot to the Beach Shelter House.

If you would like to be baptized in Harrison Lake on August 22 as the next step in your faith journey, please contact one of the pastors by August 8. Baptisms will take place following the worship service in the swimming area.
