Good afternoon,

This past week we talked about tithing and looked at a variety of scriptures. We looked at the biblical call to tithing our wealth. Tithing is not giving when we have extra, tithing is giving our first fruits. We looked at Deuteronomy 26.

This coming week Pastor Dan will be talking about contentment. What does it mean to be content in all circumstances? Contentment is a challenge for all of us. Contentment isn’t about how much we have or don’t have, contentment is a condition of the heart. You can read Philippians chapter 4 in preparation.

This past week we were all challenged in some compacity with the death of our friend Gary King. Why so suddenly and why now? They are questions that none of us can answer, or at least I can’t. What I have been reminded of is what does it mean to be ready to go. How I live my life impacts many persons but more importantly it impacts me. I know that God has a master plan and I know that God knows what is best for all of us. We don’t need to understand it all now, and we may never understand on this side of heaven. But we do know that God has a plan and his ways are always on target.

Now the elections are over. The negative ads are done and are we really better or worse off than we were before? Both parties would have us to believe that we are in need of them. If we follow one party or the other, we will be in better shape. I have over the years leaned towards the one party more than the other. I have often thought that the one party was more liberal than the other.  What I do know today for certainty, is that God is still God and he is in control. Romans 13 reminds us that no authority on earth will be in power without God letting them govern. So, a reminder, God is still in control. Sometimes as a part of living in a fallen world we need to be reminded that God is in control and he allows governments to exist and reign on this earth. But, one day, God will send his one and only Son to this earth and it will be done. There isn’t a government that will be able to stand against him. There isn’t a political party that will stop him. So, no matter what your leanings are, make sure you stand for righteousness. If you lean towards one party or another, continue to think based on God’s word, not party affiliation. We are told in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. God gives us his word to prepare us to stand strong!

We have raised $8,301.20 so far to give clean water to persons in Haiti. That allows us to drill 1.66 wells. If we raise another $1,698.80, we can drill two wells. If you would like to help make that happen that would be awesome.

I trust that you have a great week!

 Blessings!
